At the RISC-V Summit NA Tenstorrent and Lauterbach are pleased to announce a collaboration on Tenstorrent’s automotive RISC-V SoCs. Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools will be used to support Tenstorrent’s System-on-Chip (SoCs) and chiplets for RISC-V and AI powered workloads in the automotive, client, and server spaces.

Tenstorrent’s Automotive and Robotics Base-Die SoC is ideal for automotive applications in Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs). The SoC implements at least 8 powerful 64-bit superscalar, out-of-order TT-Ascalon™ RISC-V cores with Vector- and Hypervisor-ISA-extensions as well as dozens of RISC-V-based AI-accelerators and further RISC-V cores for system and communication management.

Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools enable simultaneous debugging of the various TT-Ascalon™ RISC-V processors and other cores that are implemented on the chip. The TRACE32® tools cover the entire product lifecycle (PLC) from pre-silicon development on virtual targets to prototyping on silicon to in-field debugging on ECUs. The universal PowerView debugging and tracing software can be complemented with debug and trace accelerator modules for analyzing real chips: while Lauterbach’s intelligent PowerDebug modules provide the highest available download speeds and smallest response times for efficient debugging and test automation including CI/CD support, PowerTrace real-time trace modules provide full insights of what the processors and other cores of the system are doing without impacting its real-time performance in any way.

Lauterbach’s unique hypervisor-, AUTOSAR-, and OS-awarenesses enable developers to analyze the complete automotive software stack. Trace analysis, including code coverage measurements, can support bringing embedded designs to market in faster, safer, and more reliable ways.

“Tenstorrent’s Automotive and Robotics SoC combines excellent computing performance with massive AI acceleration, which makes it highly attractive for modern cars,” said Alexandre Schaefer, Sales Director at Lauterbach GmbH. “With the latest support of TRACE32®, we enable Tenstorrent customers to develop their applications with our market leading debug and trace tools right from the start.”

“We’re excited to collaborate with Lauterbach,” said Eric Rentschler, Senior Principal Engineer and Debug Architect at Tenstorrent. “The advanced debugging capabilities and insights provided by Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools complement our efforts, helping developers boost productivity and accelerate time to market for RISC-V CPUs and AI accelerators.”

Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development tools enable developers of automotive domain based as well as SDV architectures to evolve their applications based on Tenstorrent SoCs even faster and easier.
