Compact µTX2FX Open Frame Ethernet Media Converter

 

 

MPL engineered and produces a wide range of rugged Gigabit Ethernet Media Converters (TX2FX). The solution converts Fast & Gigabit Ethernet 100/1000Base-TX copper LAN into a 100Base-FX or a 1000Base-X optical port.

We just finished the development of new media converter (µTX2FX )which is extremely compact and can be used to expand or upgrade products with a fiber connection. The foot print of the µTX2FX is only 73.5 x 28 mm.

The solutions come as a board level product. This allows the user to build it in existing housings. The latest Ethernet Media Converter come on the copper side with a lockable header with vertical or horizontal orientation.

If a RJ45 connector is needed the there are various other Media Converters (TX2FX) available from MPL. They all have a wide power range of 5VDC to 36VDC and use as little as 1.5W. They can be used in a environment temperature range of -20°C to +60°C. Optionally even with an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

Features like link loss and speed forwarding eliminates the need of additionally status LEDs, because the link status and the speed of the fiber connection will be propagated through the media converter to the copper port of the host system. This prevents also false link detection of the operating system, the status of the fiber link is the same as the status of the host port.

Due to the low latency the new µTX2FX solution supports even the IEEE 1588 PTP or the IEEE 802.1AS gPTP traffic.

With the MPL designed Ethernet media converters, any SFP module can be used that comply to the MSA standard and are Ethernet compatible.
