TRACE32® Expands Support for CoolFlux DSPs from NXP Semiconductors

Lauterbach’s TRACE32® development solutions now support NXP® Semiconductors’ CoolFlux DSPs for Audio, Sensing and Software Defined Radio applications, enabling ultra-low power applications from embedded audio subsystems to headsets to smartphones. TRACE32® tools support includes debugging of the DSP cores as well as non-intrusive trace capture.

The CoolFlux BSP line is embedded in chips for ultra-low power software defined radio basebands chips. It was also demonstrated DAB reception. The CoolFlux DSP16(L) line is used for ultra-low power intelligent sensor signal processing and speech processing.

Lauterbach’s TRACE32® solutions consist of the universal PowerView debugging and tracing software as well as debug and trace accelerator modules. While Lauterbach’s intelligent PowerDebug modules provide highest download speeds and smallest response times for efficient debugging and test automation, PowerTrace real-time trace modules provide full insights of what the CPUs and other cores are doing without impacting its real-time performance in any way. Trace analysis including code coverage measurements can support bringing designs to market faster, safer, and more reliably than ever.

TRACE32® enables simultaneous debugging and tracing of Arm® and CoolFlux cores in heterogeneous NXP SoCs like S32K3x; a unique capability to cover the whole system. TRACE32® can be launched directly from the NXP Software Development Toolkit, which includes a C-compiler, an assembler, an instruction set simulator and a linker.

“NXP’s CoolFlux DSP IP combines ultralow power consumption with good performance”, says Dr. Markus Herdin, Head of Marketing at Lauterbach GmbH. “With the latest support of TRACE32®, we enable NXP customers to develop their applications with our market leading debug and trace solutions right from the start.”
